The whole point of posting anything on social media is to get your audience's attention. Once you have their attention you can use it to either establish yourself as an expert in your field, share behind the scenes information about who you are which builds community & trust, or eventually launch a product or service that you want them to buy. Before any of the sales goals can be met you must first be active and visible on social media. Here are 3 ways that you can increase your visibility on Instagram today, like right now!
NUMERO UNO:
When posting on social media one way to make yourself more visible is to use #hashtags, these searchable links allow people to find posts under a common theme. When creating your post hashtags keep in mind that you want to use a combination of high frequency hashtags as well as industry-specific hashtags. Here is a list of some that may be helpful to help join in on entrepreneurial social conversations already happening across platforms:
Remember that holidays and special events will often turned into hashtags as well i.e #MerryChristmas #HappyMothersDay #4thOfJuly #ElectionDay etc.
Tip: Be sure to use capital letters on each new word of the hashtag as it allows for more accessibility for people who are listening to post captions.For example PicnicWithUs vs. Picnincwithus
NUMERO DOS:
Video is the top source of engagement across all social platforms, using things like Instagram Reelz allows you to create short video content that can be discovered easily especially when you include the use of trendy songs. Instagram algorithms also look for the use of at least one video every week. This can be obtained by creating short clips on IG stories, IGTV episodes or a LIVE with your audience. Canva is a great, user-friendly way to create short videos as well. They have tons of content pre-made for your use and you don't always have to be on camera. No more stalling until you can plan & execute a photoshoot!
Tip: After hosting a LIVE save it and post it to IGTV. Not only will this count as your video for consistency purposes but it will also allow your audience members who could not attend the live event to watch the content replay and engage in the comments.
NUMERO TRES:
Posting images has not gone away! Instagram would still like to see at least three pictures posted every week across stories and feeds. If possible include multiple pictures in one post, this is called a carousel and will increase engagement. If a follower does not flip through to the end of your photo carousel they will see your post again as they continue scrolling! This can be a big help in increasing your reach and engagement.
Tip: Remember due to the algorithm not every person who follows you will see your content the day it is posted. It is best practice to share a new post alert in your stories that alerts your followers when a new post has been added to your page. You can also use your social platforms to alert your audience when content is shared somewhere else too, like your YouTube channel or podcast episode. It is also best practice to ask your audience what they would like to see. If you are truly sharing what they are interested in, you should see your engagement improved dramatically!
